The problem
Music Assistant provides open-source multi-room audio streaming across mixed player ecosystems such as Sonos, Chromecast and AirPlay, but managing players across rooms, switching audio between speakers, and controlling playback from a phone, smartwatch, or car dashboard requires a unified, responsive client experience.
The solution
A native multi-device client suite and companion product website. The application connects to local Music Assistant servers to provide library browsing, speaker grouping, room-to-room audio transfer, phone-as-speaker streaming, and companion interfaces for Wear OS and Android Auto. The product website showcases interface capabilities, feature tours, and privacy architecture.
Technical implementation
MAestro combines a native multi-device application suite with a dedicated product website, providing a unified remote control interface for the open-source Music Assistant server.
Multi-device application
The application connects directly to Music Assistant instances across the local network:
- Unified speaker control: Manage playback across Chromecast, AirPlay, Sonos, and local hardware from a single screen, with volume grouping and one-tap room-to-room transfer.
- Phone as a speaker: Enables the mobile device to participate as a synchronized audio player in step with other household zones.
- Wear OS and Android Auto integration: Wrist-based transport and volume control via watch complications, alongside an in-car interface for dashboard navigation.
- Library and queue management: Fast search across local libraries and connected streaming providers, draggable queues, and waveform seek controls.
- Privacy by design: Communicates directly with local servers without intermediate telemetry or third-party analytical trackers.
Product website
The dedicated product site at maestro.e-path.co.uk delivers:
- Interface showcase: Visual walkthroughs illustrating mobile, wearable, and automotive playback modes.
- Network discovery guidance: Setup documentation outlining zero-configuration server discovery and connection steps.
- Responsive static architecture: Lightweight, accessible presentation that mirrors the design principles of the underlying applications.
Outcome
Live at maestro.e-path.co.uk with client applications prepared for Google Play distribution.

A recipe site for very low-fat cooking, rebuilt as a statically generated site with validated content, a build that refuses to ship broken links, and no running server.
